TRAVERS MARTIN
LEAD LANDSCAPE DESIGNER | he/him
As Brooklyn Grange's lead designer, Travers’s work activates urban spaces into places that incubate a deeper connection to traditionally overlooked environments. He is continually drawn to the exchange between built works and the earthly systems they inhabit, and it is in this contrast that he finds the most inspiration. As a consummate tinkerer and maker, he finds a creative outlet in both the conceptual design process and construction implementation; working alongside his team to make beautiful ideas come to life. With two decades of experience in the field of landscape architecture, he has developed a strong systemic approach, including a focus on long term maintenance, budgeting and native plant ecotopes. Before landing at Brooklyn Grange, he spent his early career collecting degrees in the planning/architecture disciplines, researching contaminated post industrial waterfront landscapes, and teaching at New Jersey's state college. An avid cyclist, bonsai nerd and proud papa, Travers is continually seeking a more conscious relationship with the natural world.
