Did you know that all of the worker bees are female? How can you tell a queen bee apart from the others? Have you ever wondered what honey bees do during the colder months? Get your answers to these questions and much more at the winter introduction to beekeeping with our Beekeeper Tori Coleman. It’ll leave you buzzing with excitement!
Tori will provide you with a crash course in apiculture, walking participants through a brief history of beekeeping, the beekeeper’s calendar, and the special challenges of keeping bees in an urban setting. We'll discuss the anatomy of a honey bee; the biology and life cycle of the colony; as well as equipment, hive architecture and basics in beekeeping safety.
This workshop is perfect for those of you who are considering beekeeping for the first time and want to learn more before bee season is in full swing. If this is the year for you to dive into beekeeping, this is a great place to start!

About Tori Coleman: Tori is a beekeeper and educator in NYC. They have worked with Raymapu Miel, Girl Next Door Honey, and Sacred Beeometry to hone their beekeeping practice since 2018. Tori currently offers swarm retrieval, live colony removal, hive tours, and hive management services for clients throughout New York City and New York State. When they are not elbows deep in bees, Tori can be found riding their bike or baking bread.
