The stoop series CANNOT wait to welcome Chef Ruby Jawaid to the roof this fall! She’ll be serving up contemporary Pakistani cuisine built on traditional knowledge + diverse culinary traditions from around the world, with careful attention towards health and well-being.
”Ruby Jawaid is a special education teacher, a volunteer for New York Cares, and a loving mom who lives in Brooklyn, New York. Her parents immigrated to Karachi, Pakistan, from Aligarh, India, during the partition of 1947, bringing with them treasured memories and precious recipes. When her mom and dad passed away in 2018, she created a handmade recipe book to preserve her mom’s recipes. And when she successfully completed her heart pacemaker surgery in 2019, she decided to begin this project to share the culinary magic with fellow New Yorkers.”

ABOUT ROOF STOOP SUNDAYS:
Our Roof Stoop series celebrates the bounty of the growing season, highlights the deep talent of local New York chefs, and directly supports 1:1 Foods’ and Brooklyn Grange’s community-based food justice work.
Every other Sunday, the culinary team at 1:1 Foods collaborates with an incredible line up of chef comrades, delivering menus that draw on their personal inspirations and feature the freshest produce — much grown literally steps away from the kitchen on the Grange’s Sunset Park farm. The vibe is casual and the food is exceptional. Come explore the farm and feast with us — all for a good cause.
